I have two lines of street illumination near the house that I made more than 5 years ago. They were controlled by timers. Everything worked but it was not convenient. And a year ago, I decided to make them smarter. I looked for different options, read reviews, watched videos and documentation and settled on that. Most of the reviews about this module are positive and this device is quite popular. I ordered one for a trial and after setting up and testing I ordered another 4. The module is quite simple to install, configure and operate. Connection and integration with the application did not cause any difficulties for me. I connected 2 lines of street illumination more than half a year ago and everything works fine.
Also, I still have 3 modules left and I plan to use them to automate some devices and hobby projects. I started doing automatic watering for indoor plants using this module. I have many ideas for home automation and I plan to re-order these devices again.
Any automation improves something. Previously, to change the schedule of street illumination I had to reconfigure the timers manually, now I can do this from the phone and it is very convenient. I also have a large rack with indoor plants. Once we went on vacation and many plants died. I started doing offline watering using this module.
The scheme is very simple. Module, voltage converter, water pump, dropper, and drip irrigation elements. There will be a small 5-liter capacity and periodically will need to add water.
I have big plans for home automation and for sure most of them I use this module.
I made a small test bench to test and configure the module. I checked all the modules that I ordered and they all work fine.
The module is connected very simply, on screw connections. A small screwdriver came bundled with the order. The module has one button which you can manually turn on and off the device, as well as one LED.
After connecting, I installed the eWeLink application on my phone and connected the module. I will leave a link in the useful resources section of the manual with step-by-step instructions. I tried both manual control and scheduled control. I also installed the Alexa application, connected this module and checked voice control. Everything works fine and the whole setup did not take me much time.
Now I manage these devices from the phone, but in the future, I plan to buy a separate device for voice control when there will be a lot of these devices.
Below I will leave useful information and resources related to this device.
SONOFF Waterproof Junction Box IP66.The box is not bad, but the device enters it quite tightly. Also the entrance and exit on the one hand which is not very convenient. But in some projects I use it.
Sonoff DIN Rail Tray. I used for installation in the DIN rail mounted switchboard when I connected the street illumination. Good plastic, easy to install.
